All posts by Sabir Hussain

Sabir Hussain is a name to reckon with, at one time, in thje world of cinama banners and posters. This was in the late sixties and seventies. His first major contract was when Sabir was commissioned to do the posters of the hindi film Chiraag where he had to execute the larger than life likeness in huge banners of film stars, Sunil Dutta and Asha Parekh. After that he never looked back and since then Sabir had painted countless number of banners and posters. The once that come to mind to the poster painter, are Bobby and practically all the films that come under the R.K. Banner. He remembers his perfect fineness accomplished in the posters of Kamal Amrohi’s Classic film Pakeezah when Sabir lingered long to bring to life the soulful looks and posters of Meena Kumari, the tragedy queen, after careful study of her histrionics in a number of films. Having his training as a poster painter, at the Kamal Art Studio, run under his father, Saiyed Mustafa Kamal, the young Sabir learnt the craft of poster painting while rubbing shoulders with professionals of banners and poster painters. His strong observational powers coupled with infinite patience of endless practice enabled him to master the art. During his years as poster painter of a plethora of Hindi films there was a feeling in the deep, dark corner of his mind that there was something missing in his work. This came as a result of Sabir’s frequent visit to the Victoria Memorial , observing with a keen interest the works of British painters. At this point Sabir Hussain was the only one of the ilk of poster painters to be aware that his work lacked the auster dignity and meticulous brush work of British masters and renassiance painters. So obsessed Hussain was with the works of the great masters that he decided to call it a day and resign from the world of poster painting. His last assigned work was Nagina and bid adeau to Shri Devi and all the other Devis of bollywood tinsel world, he is now engaged in commissioned portraits and in reproducing the works of the old masters which are flawless in their execution. He has received the patronage of reputated artistes in M.F. Hussain, Bikash Bhattacharia,( in collaboration commissioned work of the Grand Canyon at the USIS.) and Wasim Kapoor. Sabir Hussain is planning to told his exhibition through the Global platform of Painters[Artist’s Web portal i.e; Creativeartandartist.com] where he aspires to highlight a panorama of portraits of Indian master painters along with his own creative works which rope in a number of styles and techniques.

Being a True Artist[e]

I , Mr. Sabir Hussain, an Artiste feel that if I am an artist and now I am getting exposure and the right platform to express my art through the world, I must also think over the artists who are devoid of this facility owing to some reasons or other. What I have achieved, I want to share with others and the global platform that is unveiled to me, I like to open it for my co- artistes as well as the artist who is yet to bloom. Being an Artist one should only think of his own sublimity but should also make the path smooth for others to be sublime. This I think very artist should bear in his mind and then only he or she can be called a true artist, an Artist Incarnate.

Live and Let Live !

All Artists are talented but some get much exposure and some are few. So, some may become celebrity and some may not.  So, it needs proper focus as well as break through to be a celebrity. And the way of expressing the art in him, varies from artist to artist. A good platform is needed from where an artist can perform his act of art.

So, never neglect a small artist and always make your own way as well as help others to get way. the policy as well as motto of an artist should be “Live and Let Live !”

Dhyan [Meditation]

Dhyan

When I start meditating, then first few moments our mind gets filled with uncanny images, all unwanted thoughts comes speedily. And as we go on meditating all fades and ultimately we reach the point where all the thoughts mingles in one… and thus we achieve the spiritual bliss.

I tried to put this in my canvas in the following picture. The media is ink.

Sense even in Insanity

Basic Sense even in Insanity

The following picture is of a Insane woman. She had nothing with her apart from some basic sense that I have noticed.

sense within

Despite complete nudity and loss of complete sense , she still bears the sense of beauty… she still posses bangles in her both hands. She had nothing to wrap her with still she uses her hands to cover her sensual organs…. so this is an ideal instance of sense in insanity or we may say sense within.

Tributes to Tagore on his 150th Birth Centenary

Tagore on his 150th Birth Centenary

It takes many a canvas to express the feelings, an artist bears in his mind while he paints. A poet pours his powerful feelings within few lines and a poetry comes out with his over power of powerful feelings. Tagore’s paintings are like poetry. View them as poetical lines inscribed with powerful feelings — then one can get the complete understanding of his art.

Ray of Hope

Ray of Hope
The society is engulfed with darkness and it is now full of malice. The picture below depicts the theme I have stated. In the left side the figures symbolize the malice of the society, the chain, the bondage , the darkness… where as in the right there is new born baby. who is the symbol of future of our society. And there is a opened window… not closed yet … and a thin sunbeam is peeping .. so there is hope, a ray of hope.. Nothing is completely finished yet.
